Each layout, crafted with love and close attention to detail, offers a unique, immersive experience.
In our one-bedroom option, our guests are treated to a spacious bedroom with a queen-sized four-poster bed that leads to a tranquil outdoor seating area and an outdoor bathroom complete with a shower and an oversized tub. Please note that we’ve intentionally chosen not to install air conditioning in the property, as we’d like our guests to connect with nature and enjoy the cool air the house’s design naturally provides. Ceiling fans are, however, available in all rooms.
Our two-bedroom option, meanwhile, offers two generously sized bedrooms, each with a private bathroom fitted with an outdoor shower. Perhaps the jewel of this option is the private 11m swimming pool in our sprawling garden, surrounded by greenery, and complete with a fire pit – perfect for late-night chats under the Sri Lankan sky.
Our three-bedroom villa, the largest of our three options, features an indoor kitchen, spacious living room, and an additional private pool. Just like with our smaller options, this layout also incorporates outdoor areas for dining and a rustic ‘ambalama’. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also explore the treehouse boasting magnificent views of the ocean.
Beyond the rooms and within the local area, there are myriad activities to delve into. Mawella beach, located a few paces away from our property, stretches 2km and offers something unique at each turn. Watch local fishermen at work or lend a helping hand for a memorable experience. The beach is perfect for leisurely walks, yoga, or meditation, with various eateries along the path.
Indeed, the pristine beach setting provides plenty of opportunities for snorkeling and sightseeing, with boat trips to ‘Coral Beach’ offering a mesmerizing peek into the underwater world. And should you be in the mood for a peaceful lagoon tour, our housekeeper Lalith would be more than happy to take you on his raft.
Of all the surf breaks sprinkled around the area, Hiriketiya or Unakaruwa carry our personal endorsement. Here, you can rent boards or enroll in surfing lessons from local experts. For a more unique experience, we can also arrange for surf professionals to come to The Yellow House and guide you.
